Team results

Results appear here after you generate teams. Copying and sharing stay under your control.

How it works

Three small steps are enough for most classrooms, games, workshops, and team activities.

1. Paste names

Add one person per line. Add optional skill scores after a comma if you want balanced teams.

2. Choose grouping

Pick the number of teams or set a target size. Spinly keeps team sizes as even as possible.

3. Generate and share

Create the teams, copy the result, or share a URL that rebuilds the current setup.

Organiser/testing controls

Use these lightly. Avoid pairs and force groups are useful for classroom management, testing, workshops, and organiser-led activities. Do not use hidden controls for serious, paid, official, public, legal, hiring, admissions, gambling, or prize-giving situations.

Random Team Generator FAQ

Quick answers before you split the list.

Is the random team generator free?

Yes. It is free, runs in your browser, and does not need an account.

Can I choose number of teams or team size?

Yes. Choose a fixed number of teams, or choose a team size and Spinly will work out how many teams are needed.

Can I stop two names being placed together?

Yes. Open the organiser/testing controls and add avoid pairs such as Alice, Bob. Spinly will avoid that pairing where possible.

Can I keep people together on the same team?

Yes. Add force groups such as Alice, Bob. The generator treats those names as a small group and places them together where possible.

How does skill balancing work?

Add a score after a comma, such as Alice, 5. Spinly then tries to spread the total score across teams while keeping team sizes sensible.

Does Spinly store my names?

The generator stays in your browser unless you choose local or online saving. Share links encode the current setup in the URL so you can send it yourself.
