Privacy Policy

How Spinly handles optional accounts, saved tool content, browser storage, Usage Data, analytics, cookies, and privacy rights.

1. Who we are

Spinly is a free browser-based random picker toolkit operated from the United Kingdom. Our tools include a spinning wheel, D&D dice roller, random number generator, sweepstake generator, and related decision tools.

2. The short version

You can use most Spinly tools without creating an account. Accounts are optional, although some features, such as saving supported wheels, sweepstakes, team generators, or other items online, require you to log in.

Tool content is generally kept in your browser or inside shareable URLs where those features are used. If you are logged in and choose online saving, the saved item is stored online and associated with your account.

Analytics, advertising, hosting, consent, or security services may still collect Usage Data, such as page views, device and browser information, approximate location, referral source, interactions, cookies, and technical diagnostics.

3. Information you give us directly

You do not need to provide personal information to use most Spinly tools. If you create an account, Spinly and our authentication provider, Supabase Auth, may process information needed to create and operate that account, including:

  • your email address;
  • authentication tokens, session information, and account identifiers;
  • account creation, verification, and login timestamps;
  • email verification and password-reset information.

Passwords are handled by Supabase Auth. Spinly does not manually store or see your password.

If you contact us by email, we receive the information included in your message, such as your email address, name if provided, and the content of your message. We use this to reply, handle your request, improve the site, or keep appropriate records.

4. Optional accounts

Creating a Spinly account is optional. You can continue using the site's general tools without an account, but features that store items online may require login. Authentication sessions may be stored in your browser so that you remain signed in.

Creating or using an account does not automatically upload, move, merge, or delete items already saved locally in your browser unless Spinly clearly offers and you use a feature that does so.

5. Online saved items

Logged-in users may choose to save supported tool data online. Depending on the tool, saved data may include:

  • wheel names, entries, settings, modes, and related configuration;
  • sweepstake participants, teams, results, and settings;
  • team generator names, settings, and results;
  • other tool presets or results if online saving is added to further tools.

Online saved items are associated with your account so they can be listed and opened after login. Avoid entering or saving sensitive, private, confidential, or special-category personal information in tool entries.

6. Tool content stored on your device

Spinly may use your browser's local storage to remember tool settings and make the site work better for you. This may include:

  • the current state of the wheel you are working on;
  • saved wheels or tool presets;
  • spin result history;
  • dice roll history during your session;
  • random number generator settings or recent results;
  • sweepstake setup and recent draw history;
  • theme preferences, such as light mode or dark mode;
  • cookie or consent preferences.

This information is stored on your own device. If you clear your browser storage, this information may be deleted. We cannot recover it for you.

Some local tool data may remain in your browser whether or not you are logged in. Logging in does not automatically move local items online or remove them from your device.

7. Shareable links

Some Spinly tools may let you create a shareable link. When you use this feature, tool data may be encoded into the URL itself. This can include entries, names, weights, sequences, teams, or other settings.

This data is encoded for convenience, but it is not encrypted. Anyone with the link may be able to see or load the information in it. Do not put private, sensitive, or confidential information into a Spinly tool if you plan to share the link.

8. Usage Data

When you visit Spinly, certain technical information may be collected automatically by your browser, our hosting provider, Google Analytics, advertising providers, consent tools, security services, or other service providers. This Usage Data may include:

  • your IP address or approximate location;
  • browser type and version;
  • device type and operating system;
  • pages visited;
  • time and date of visits;
  • time spent on pages;
  • referring pages or links;
  • interactions with the site, such as clicks or page views;
  • cookies, consent choices, and similar identifiers;
  • diagnostic information used to keep the site secure and working properly.

9. Google Analytics

We may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use Spinly and to improve the website. Google Analytics may collect information such as page views, sessions, approximate location, browser information, device information, referral source, and interactions with the site. Google Analytics may set cookies, including cookies such as _ga, which help distinguish users and sessions.

We use Google Analytics to measure visits, understand which tools and pages are useful, find technical problems or confusing pages, improve site speed, improve layout and content, and understand broad traffic sources such as search engines, social media, or direct visits.

We do not use Google Analytics to identify individual users by name, and we do not send Google the names, entries, weights, sequences, dice settings, sweepstake participants, or other tool content you type into Spinly tools.

Google may process Analytics data on our behalf. Where required by law, we only load Google Analytics after you have given consent through our cookie banner or consent tool.

10. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, tags, and scripts. Spinly may use cookies or local storage for essential purposes, analytics purposes, advertising purposes if advertising services are enabled, and consent management.

Essential storage may be used because it is needed for the site to work. Analytics and advertising cookies are used only where allowed by law and, where required, only after you have given consent. 11. Google AdSense and advertising

We may display ads on Spinly using Google AdSense or similar advertising services. Advertising providers may use cookies, identifiers, and similar technologies to show ads, measure ad performance, prevent fraud, and comply with legal requirements.

If personalised advertising is enabled, advertising providers may use information about your visits to this and other websites to provide ads that may be more relevant to you. Where required by law, personalised advertising will only be used with your consent.

12. How we use information

We use information to provide and maintain Spinly; create and authenticate optional accounts; provide online saving where selected; remember tool settings on your device; improve site performance, design, and features; understand website traffic and usage trends; detect, prevent, and fix technical or security issues; respond if you contact us; comply with legal obligations; and protect the security and integrity of the website.

13. Legal bases for processing

If UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, the legal basis depends on the activity. It may include providing account or online-saving features you request, our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving Spinly, consent for non-essential analytics or advertising technologies where required, and legal obligations where we need to keep or disclose information to comply with the law.

14. Service providers

We may use third-party service providers to help operate Spinly. These may include Supabase for authentication and online saved-item storage, website hosting providers, Google Analytics, Google Fonts, Google AdSense if enabled, cookie consent or privacy management tools, security and diagnostics providers, and email services if you contact us. These providers may process information as needed to provide their services. Their use of information is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

15. Data retention

Data stored in your browser remains on your device until you delete it, clear your browser storage, or the browser removes it. Account and online saved-item data may remain while the account or saved item remains active, and may be retained for a reasonable period where needed for backups, security, dispute handling, or legal compliance. Emails you send us may be kept for as long as needed to respond, manage the issue, keep records, or protect legal rights. Google Analytics data is retained according to the settings in our Google Analytics account.

16. International transfers

Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area. Where required by law, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, data processing terms, or equivalent protections provided by the relevant service provider.

17. Security

We take reasonable steps to keep Spinly secure. However, no website, internet transmission, or electronic storage method is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

18. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent, and the right to complain to a data protection authority.

For local browser data, you can usually remove it through the tool or your browser settings. For account, online saved-item, or privacy questions, contact us at spinlyinformation@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

19. Children's privacy

Spinly may be used in classrooms and by people of different ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the tools themselves. Users should avoid entering private information about children into Spinly tools, especially if they intend to share a link publicly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information directly, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it where required.

20. Links to other websites

Spinly may contain links to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or policies of those third-party websites.

21. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Last updated date at the top of this page. Changes take effect when posted on this page.
