About Spinly

Spinly is a free spinning wheel that picks a random option from a list you give it. You type your options, you hit spin, the wheel decides. That's the whole pitch.

Why we built it

Most online wheel pickers are fine for a single use, but stop being useful the moment your situation gets even slightly complicated. The options aren't equal. The same person keeps getting picked. You want a specific order without writing one on a piece of paper. Whatever the wrinkle, the standard wheel tool can't handle it, and you end up doing the decision by hand anyway.

Spinly handles three modes:

• Equal: every option has the same chance. The classic.
• Weighted: some options come up more often than others, based on weights you set.
• Sequence: a fixed order of picks that the wheel works through.

Between them, you can model almost any "fair-ish pick from a list" situation. Equal odds for genuinely interchangeable options, weighted for situations that aren't really symmetric, and sequence for when you want the spin to look random but the order matters.

Who it's for

Spinly is for anyone who's gotten stuck deciding something that doesn't matter very much. Families arguing about dinner. Teams rotating standup duty. Classrooms picking who answers next. Households assigning chores. Couples deciding which film to watch.

It is not for high-stakes decisions, and we'd recommend against using it as your tiebreaker for those. The wheel is a tool for low-variance decisions where the cost of picking any reasonable option is small, and the cost of not picking is bigger than people realise.

How it works

Spinly runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type leaves your device unless you actively share a wheel via a copyable link, in which case the wheel data is encoded into the URL itself. There's no account, no sign-up, no database. We don't know who you are and we don't want to.

Your wheels are saved to your browser's local storage so they're there when you come back. You can also export saved wheels as shareable links to use them on other devices or send them to other people.
